- Michael Brecker had it going on

- turns out drummers aren't overrated... its true.

- Reading is not overrated.

- your mom is overrated... unless you're my mom... then you rock.

- finding an apartment is difficult but effective

- apparently 6th graders have sex in shop class... i always waited till gym.

its freakin cold outside.

so.... 4 1/2 months since my last update. I'd bet you're all wondering when what i've been up to.... but then i'd lose some money. I'll be brief:

- I'm still in Boston.

- I'm still drumming.

- I still have a girl friend... at least thats what she tells me ;)

- Its still cold outside.

- I don't miss Texas near as much as i thought i would.

- I miss Texas.

- I'm still busy as always. take my saturday: I'll wake up at 10 and eat something then get some folks to help lug my drumset over to the main building where i have rehersal for a jazz recording session next saturday. The rehersal lasts from 12-2. From there I take my drums from the ensamble room i'm in and move them to the studio that i have a session in from 2-6. After that, I lug my drums back to my dorm, and eat something and probably pass out after that for 2 hours. So... at around 9 i'll wake up and start working on the numerous projects i have to complete for school including reading Grendel by John Gardner, transcribe a song for my lesson, do my harmony homework, and finish this song i'm writing for my portfolio.

- I still love metal

- I'm growing fond of Gospel music.

- I'm about to be in 2 bands and one of those gigs regularly.

- None of my bands are metal....

- ...yet

- I hate talking about myself so i'm gonna stop. I hope everyone is doing well.

Make good decisions people. Do what makes sense. Serioudly. God gave you logic and reason. Use them.

so needless to say...

This place is fantastic. The atmosphere, the people, the dog peeing on my leg... alright maybe not the people but other than that its awesome. I'm meeting some great musicians and rocking it out in my spare time which isn't a lot but it'll do. Right now i'm arranging a new melody for Autumn leaves for trumpet. I'm also working on a string quintet arrangment for a Tool song that i've fallen in love with but i'll rock that out on Saturday most likely. Later on today i'm playing with my cousin Myles and his church worship group in preparation for a youth conference in mid-october. One of my ensambles (the only one for now) rocks my freakin socks off. We're playing P-funk and old school hip hop tunes with newer arrangments. Its groove central. Luckily for me I have a rock solid bass player and a killer rhythm section. Practicing 4-5 hours a day is a must for this place. Its crazy. Today i probably won't practice as much cus i have to finish this project, eat and then take the T to my cousin's place of business so i can hitch a ride to the rehersal spot.

I'm also thinking of becoming an RA here next year. They get free room and stuff and that would be great if i didn't have to pay to be on campus anymore. Cus incase you didn't know... this place isn't cheap. its not the most expensive place in town but certainly not on the B list. Berklee made the damn list. They are the list. Bam.

Much love.

rollin with it.

So Boston is only 29 days away (well, technically 32 w/ travel) and i couldn't be more happy.  Everyone asks me are you sad or scared about moving away.  I give them all the same answer: F*CK no i'm not sad or scared i'm f*cking pumped about moving to Boston and rocking it out up there.  All of my friends will stay my friends, I'll still have a great girl friend and I'm moving to a great city.  Scared?? Of what??  Bring it on baby!!!  I'm living the dream.  I get to go to one of the best music schools in the WORLD.  Hell yeah.

See, since i was a kid growing up around Los Angeles, my family and I have moved around a lot... a whole lot.  I haved to make new friends 5 times from 1-12 grade.  And by new I mean completely new.  Living in Texas for the last 6 years is the longest I've stayed in one place ever and I think its time for me to be moving on once more.   Moving is just a natural part of life for me.  I'm a nomad.  My whole family is.  We've had a Cuadra live in almost every corner of the US including Alaska, Massachusetts ( i can't even spell the state i'm moving too), Connecticut (or the one right above MA), Maryland, California, Oregon, Kentucky, Texas, and Michigan.  Dammit we love to move!!!

So here's to everyone who's moving away to school.  Be strong.  Be faithful.  Be patient.

God Speed.
